Lucian uses Leica R camera bodies (R3, R5 & R7) as well as Leica lenses (35mm to 560mm) for his studies. In his equipment inventory is a Metz 40MZ2 flash, a tiltall tripod as well as a shoulder mount brace to reduce camera shake. He uses no filters or fill-in flash. His choice of films include Agfachrome 100 professional for scenics, Provia for some scenics and Kodachrome 200 for nature. His style is classic let the picture tell the story, preferring not to stage any shots. He researches each shooting carefully waiting to catch the essence of the story with natural light to his liking.
Joan works with a Nikon Coolpix 995 as we slowly wean ourselves away from film into the digital world. Much of our printing is now digital with archival inks and papers. Joan also does extensive documentation full-time as well as captioning the images upon return, keeping records of the computer labeling. Our inventories of over 150,000 images are all computer labeled and archived.
Pepe, our 9 year old Mitred Conure (the largest of the small parrots) is our continual touch with reality as we do our studies. His constant companionship gives us enjoyment and laughter as we do our work. His joy in taking trips is only exceeded by our own.
